Destiny N.'s Visionary Solutions

Welcome to my public health portfolio—a space where data meets compassion, and strategy meets community. I'm a public health practitioner devoted to food access, substance use prevention, health equity, and whole-person care. Through culturally responsive education, harm reduction initiatives, and cross-sector collaboration, I work to build systems that heal and empower.

About Me.

I am a dedicated public health professional with over a decade of experience in community development, outreach, and health equity. I’ve committed my life to being both a student and servant of public health, with a passion for advancing basic human rights, wellness, and access to care. Currently, I serve as the Lead Education Specialist for the Substance Use Prevention Program at Harris County Public Health, where I oversee community engagement, curriculum design, program marketing, and grant initiatives, while supervising a growing team. I strive to build healthier, more informed communities through culturally responsive programming, strategic communication, and compassion.

Education

Currently

MPH Candidate

Lamar University

As a current Master of Public Health student and public health professional at Harris County Public Health, my graduate studies focus on healing from the inside out—examining the role of gut health, holistic wellness, and the power of women to transform family health outcomes. My work explores the intersection of nutrition, farming, and self-efficacy as sustainable strategies to reduce the chronic disease burden and lessen dependence on local and federal systems. Through this lens, I aim to build stronger, healthier communities rooted in knowledge, access, and empowerment.

May 2020

Bachelors
Prairie View A&M University

Graduating with a 3.8 GPA, Dean’s List honors, and membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, I combined academic excellence with purposeful service. My studies included collaborative research under published faculty, university-wide data collection, and the development of health initiatives selected for campus-wide implementation. One such program, a hygiene box campaign, provided students with free access to essential items like tampons, deodorant, and hair care products. During my reign as Miss Black and Gold, I launched a campus mental health campaign focused on reducing stigma—especially within the Black community and among men—by connecting students with free campus services and hosting student-led TED-style talks to encourage open dialogue and healing.

Future Indevors

Looking to join a Doctoral program once I have received my MPH

Building on my foundation in public health practice and research, I plan to pursue a doctoral degree focused on advancing holistic, community-based health interventions. My future studies will explore how nutrition, environmental health, and culturally responsive care can be leveraged to transform generational outcomes—particularly for women, children, and underserved populations. Through this work, I aim to influence policy, lead systems change, and cultivate healthier futures rooted in equity, access, and the power of prevention.

Whether planting seeds in underserved neighborhoods or designing health workshops for healthcare systems, my mission remains the same: to nurture thriving communities through knowledge, compassion, and action.
